Successful youth exchange program in Hungary

September 22-26, 2025

The project’s first youth exchange program took place in September 2025, with 21 young people from Hungary and Romania participating. The program had two objectives: on the one hand, it provided youth workers with an opportunity to try out the independent, adaptive application of the Toolkit, and on the other hand, it offered young people workshops that developed their self-awareness, resilience, communication skills, and emotional intelligence.

The international nature of the training ensured that participants could try out their skills in an intercultural environment while learning about each other’s socio-cultural backgrounds. The methodology used was rich and diverse: coaching techniques (SMART goal setting, Johari window), soft skills development, experiential learning with a trainer approach, and drama pedagogy tools. These methods gave young people the opportunity to acquire not only theoretical knowledge but also directly applicable skills.

One of the key elements of the program was the case studies “Anna’s Choice” and “Perfect Life?”, which helped participants to reflect more consciously on their own life situations, social roles, and digital habits. The exercises also encouraged emotional involvement, self-reflection, and courageous self-expression.

According to feedback, young people gained concrete tools for dealing with their everyday challenges, while youth workers gained professional confidence in the adaptive use of the Toolkit’s methods. The exchange program thus served both the personal development of young people and the professional renewal of youth work.
